I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate with a background of working with teens and families with depression, suicidality, ADHD, and anxiety. I also bring a deep background in understanding developmental and cognitive difficulties. Family conflict is often a symptom that accompanies these difficulties because of the stress that is added as the family attempts to care for their affected member.
I believe that at the root of many of our struggles is a deep desire to be listened to. My therapeutic work is based on the idea that people by nature are relational beings with physical, spiritual, emotional, and social components, and that the exploration and integration of these aspects can be life changing and enhancing.
My philosophy encompasses elements of attachment theory, family systems theory, and intersubjectivity psychoanalysis. Human behavior is complex and influenced by many factors: family-of-origin, physiology, gender, faith, culture, education, age, etc. I believe that secure, committed, reciprocal relationships are the cornerstone to healthy psychological functioning. I personally operate from a Christian worldview that sees all persons as created in the image of God and worthy of love and respect regardless of race, creed, gender, or politics. Individuals who wish may choose to integrate faith into their therapy.
Warmly,
Christopher David MS, LMFT
