Welcome to the Integrative Counseling Institute!
At ICI we see every person who comes to the clinic as a gift and assignment from God. We believe that humans are living documents with six essential life stories: birth, name, family, love, work, and faith. We also understand that psychological struggles and problems reflect relational failures connected to these stories, failures that are internalized. If relationships bring us pain and distress, it takes relationship to heal them.
At the Integrative Counseling Institute we provide clinical psychological services and pastoral counseling to individuals, couples, and families, as well as educational training programs for those in the field of clinical psychology.
Our clinical and pastoral counselors offer a robust integration of psychology, neurobiology, and theology through the Manock Integrative Method (MIM). Our pastoral counselors are trained to a clinic standard alongside our clinicians, being educated through the ICI certification process in counseling knowledge and skills elevated beyond the usual pastoral psychology. Counselors affiliated with ICI deeply care about whole heart and mind healing, and are prepared to walk with you through your pain.
My own primary clinical focus is couple’s therapy utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) modality and Intersubjectivity Psychoanalysis (IS). EFT intervention consists in helping the distressed couple and individuals to form a new bond, which becomes an attachment foundation that empowers the couple and the individual to work through various relational and psychological issues. I also do psychotherapy informed by IS which is the fifth-generation psychoanalysis with its profound shift to two-person psychology. EFT and IS, along with Attachment Theory (AT), lie at the heart of ICI certification and the MIM.
25+ years of psychotherapy experience and 45+ years of pastoral counseling experience, working with individuals and couples, has qualified me to do integrative counseling regarding people’s Image of God (IoG), an approach which combines both psychological work and spiritual work within the framework of the Christian Faith. It brings me deep joy to pass this integrative method on to a new generation of clinical and pastoral counselors.
If you are looking for a counselor, we trust that we can come alongside of you with compassion, strength, and healing. If you wish to train as a pastoral counselor or to continue your education as an intern or clinician, we believe our training programs can transform your practice and your life.
Blessings,
